This project was initially envisioned as a botanical maze with ground cover, grasses, and edible and medicinal plants native to Montana and the West. Over time the vision evolved, and the interactive garden was reimagined as an orchard with an interpretive, accessible path leading to a centrally located pergola. In keeping with original plans, the plantings in Morgan’s Orchard are laid out in a series of concave lines that together form a large circle that will offer visitors a maze-like experience as they move through the “fruit scape.”

Upon completion, Morgan’s Orchard will provide West Mont’s clients a beautiful and safe space for recreating and working. In addition, the venue will be open to West Mont Farm & Gardens visitors and available for private parties such as weddings and reunions.

The Flynn Pavilion is also dedicated to someone near and dear to our hearts. Our long-time Development Director Arlene Flynn, who retired from West Mont in December of 2021. Arlene was essential in all the events, grant writing, marketing, and sponsorship gathering for West Mont for 13.5 years! We felt it was a wonderful fit to dedicate this spectacular building to Arlene because of the events, gatherings, and fun that will be had by clients, staff, and community members.

About the Pavilion

The pavilion is located at West Mont Farm & Gardens and is made up of rough-cut lumber by Marks Lumber. Its dimension are 40 x 60 feet and will seat roughly 250 people. Surrounded by Morgan’s Orchard which is made up of 42 various apple trees and landscaped by Freedom Fabrication in the coming weeks. The pavilion will be a location for not only our clients and residents to enjoy but our community.
